Rep. Adam Smith cuts off Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth in hearing
Rep. Adam Smith cut off Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth at a congressional hearing Wednesday morning, interjecting "Whoa, whoa, whoa" as he demanded clearer answers. Smith pressed Hegseth on conflicting statements: two months ago Hegseth warned of an immediate Iranian nuclear threat, yet in testimony told lawmakers the United States had "totally obliterated" Iran's nuclear capabilities. Smith also challenged whether the Pentagon deserves big budget increases given unresolved audit gaps and whether Hegseth's inconsistent claims could be used to justify escalation with Iran.
Rep. Salud Carbajal to Pete Hegseth: “Mr Hegseth You’re the gift that keeps on giving when it comes to incompetence.”
As a combat vet Pete Hegseth makes me physically ill laughing while he sends our Man and women into harms way,,,I just want to bitch slap that smirk off his face.
“Mr Hegseth You’re the gift that keeps on giving when it comes to incompetence.” SAY IT AGAIN AND SAY IT LOUDER!!
His smirk & laughter is unacceptable to me as an American. I expect him to be professional & answer all questions.
And he smiles until he realizes that it is NOT a compliment 🤣 Hope he has enough whiskey at home to drown his sorrows.
"other than that I'm doing great, thank you" What an arrogant ass.
And of course Kegsbreath, instead of just keeping his mouth shut has to make a remark afterwards, just like the rest of them talk over everybody. These people disgust me. ZERO CLASS!
OMG, I don't usually approve of this kind of lack of decorum in these hearings, but in this instance, I FULLY endorse it. LMAO
the jokes write themselves with ol’ whiskey pete.
So that’s why Hegseth sent me “Blah, blah, blah, 🍺 🍺 🍺”!
IS ANYONE ASKING WHY KID ROCK WAS GIVEN A RIDE ON AN APACHE HELICOPTER WITH ONLY ONE PILOT SO HE COULD SIT IN THE JUMP SEAT?? HAS ANYONE ASKED WHY KID ROCK SPOKE AT THE PENTAGON YESTERDAY??
“And you should get the hell out!”
incompetence is the chief qualification for everyone in this regime congressional republicans support Donny because he makes them look competent also, bribery and extortion
Hegseth is Pam Bondi in pants.
I like the way Rep. Carbajal thinks and communicates.
Major burn! 🔥 Hogsbreath should consider himself well torched by that.
During a hearing Congressman Adam Smith asked Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth why the Trump administration miscalculated Ukraine‘s capabilities, questioning why the Trump admin tried to push Ukraine into an unfavorable deal. Hegseth deflected and didn’t respond to the question.
Joe Biden went to Congress and got approval for arms deals. Trump and Hegseth won’t get mandated congressional approval for starting a war e Iran !
Wish they would clarify how their aid was estimated, in these hearings. They make it sound like they sent state of the art equipment while in reality they delivered old scrap and leftovers. That would be intellectually honest though.
I think "Hegseth deflected and didn’t respond to the question." could apply to every question he was asked.
Well, you can't really expect him to respond with the truth: "The president and I are both fucking idiots who don't come close to being qualified for the jobs that the American people and the US Senate have so irresponsibly given us".
Hegseth's response talking points seem to consist of: 1. Joe Biden did it. 2. Joe Biden did it. 3. Democrats did it. 4. Joe Biden and Democrats did it. More seriously, did anyone really expect a member of a lying administration to answer any questions truthfully?
Of course he had to deflect.
US administration is doing everything in its power to undermine Europe. They want the multi-polar world as much as putin needs it.
He's a Democrat, of course. Notice how the Republicans didn't even clap with King Charles talked about the importance of supporting Ukraine?
Because the GOP is aligned with Putin entirely and completely
I mean we do know already
America being the arms supplier to the world is ending.
He just can't answer the question. Blaming Biden for giving weapons to Ukraine. So? Maybe you should too. They're better than you!! Zelenskyy is a better leader than you! He was just called 'leader of the free world'.
no strategicals in this one, thinks he's still a troop leader.
💰 Rep Adam Smith (D): “The Pentagon has not yet passed an audit… if we give them a 50-60% increase to $1.5 TRILLION is that money going to be well spent? I think we have every reason to doubt that.”
Trump and his cronies just want a fat military at their control. They don’t want the fed to do anything else but wage wars. Hence, they’re gutting all fed programs they can. So why should we pay fed taxes again if the fed’s only job now is military conquests?
Instead of saying each time how much money the bill would add to the Pentagon's budget, they should include how much money the Pentagon already gets, then add the 1.5 trillion to that. Remember, in February, they had a $500 billion surplus? Going to war fixed that in a hot second.
For the first time since Trump launched the U.S. into war with Iran, Pete Hegseth will publicly answer questions from lawmakers today. Democrats see the House Armed Services hearing as their best chance so far to hold the administration publicly accountable for an “undefined” and “unauthorized” war.
More performative BS... that's all it'll be.
He may appear before this committee, but I wouldn't count on him actually answering questions.
is not today, the last day of the 60 day limit on an undeclared war???
He’ll pull a Bondi and sneer/insult his time at the mic. MAGA media will then selectively edit his appearance to make him look bravely defiant to “treasonous” Democrats . Rinse and repeat. So sick of this BS.
No, I really don't think he will "answer questions." It will more likely be performative screaming.
I hope they skewer him like Sen Tillis skewered Kristi Noem
Expect Kegsbreath to use the Bondi Treatment. Deflect any incriminating questions by attacking the questioners.
Be prepared for high drama from another arrogant faux christian bloodthirsty mouthpiece suckup compensating for his deeply insecure masculinity.
Will Collin Jost ask the questions?
Oh, what are they going to do? Give him a scolding? He has caused the murder of thousands but you're going to make him cry. So so harsh. The man is a murderer. Do SOMETHING!!!
Grill this asshole extra crispy.
Bid deal. They’ll give speeches he will shout and point and lie. Just rerun the tapes of all who have testified from this administration
well I certainly hope they hammer him on this and inviting kid rock to speak to OUR troops because we are absolute white trash. This idiot was also one of the POS's trump showed off his stolen classified documents to. #FireHegseth
Looks like the Pete Hegseth hearing was ... puts on shades ... *lit*
Elect a clown, expect a circus. Well, we have one.
this is SNL, right? That's Colin Jost parodying him?
He will be hitting the bottle tonight. A fake tough guy clown
Hegseth is fucking moron just like that orange walrus, and the rest of those ignoramus’s in the cabinet.
Hegseth: "Nobody cares more about the fate of our troops"...? Not even Mr. President Sir?
It was a complete disaster with Petey Heggy having a complete meltdown.
He’s delusional. He thinks he’s in a super hero movie combined with Rambo movies. He’s a fucking idiot.
Per Representative Ro Khanna, during today's hearing with Pete Hegseth, the war with Iran will cost the average American household $5,000 extra per year to pay for higher gas and food prices. Are we great yet?
IS ANYONE ASKING WHY KID ROCK WAS GIVEN A RIDE ON AN APACHE HELICOPTER WITH ONLY ONE PILOT SO HE COULD SIT IN THE JUMP SEAT?? HAS ANYONE ASKED WHY KID ROCK SPOKE AT THE PENTAGON YESTERDAY??
The military budget of 1.5 trillion is going to significantly increase our national debt. Quite something for a president who claimed to be about making America great again and staying out of wars.
🚨 Rep. Jason Crow presses Pete Hegseth on his special adviser Crow: Does Mr. Parlatore represent foreign governments or persons in his private law practice? Hegseth: I don't know Crow: You don't know? Somebody who is sitting in your meetings as a special adviser — you don't know? Hegseth: ...
I didn't think I'd enjoy people talking down to him like this so much. But holy balls, that was so satifying.
Someone else posted "Secretary of Defensiveness." That sticks.
Geee...this seems a bit important. In the tRump administration conflicts of interest are as a positive...it's all an old boys Epstein Class
The more I see of Jason Crow the more I like him. He's got cojones.
Could this administration be any more corrupt? Parletore and Leonard Leo are buddies. How much we paying Parletore to be a special advisor? What experience does a big time Republican Operative bring to the military?
Yikes. Oil prices are skyrocketing as Pete Hegseth has his hearing in the House Armed Services Committee. Brent is over $120 a barrel.
The paper price has to match the physical price eventually. My friend's supplier (he's a residential general contractor in Ohio) is raising building prices by 10%... They're already up 15% from last year. Gas, grocery, and more already up. Americans aren't ready for how bad this economy will get
And let the winning continue
During a heated congressional hearing, Rep. Ro Khanna pressed Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on the economic fallout of the Iran war, citing estimates that rising fuel and food costs could add about $5,000 annually per US household.
When policymakers dismiss rising living costs as a “gotcha,” it signals a deeper disconnect—wars are not just fought on battlefields but paid for in kitchens, fuel tanks, and daily survival. Accountability means confronting both security risks and economic burdens honestly.
Can you imagine how spectacularly drunk Kegsbreath will get after this hearing?
Has there ever been a secretary of defense as combative as Pete Hegseth?
Is he as rude to the men as he is to the women?
Has there ever been a SecDef who, in a previous career, nearly killed a man with an axe?
"Belligerence" is his defining personality trait. Well, "drunkenness," really (like half the regime), but belligerence is a close second.
