OpenAI trial opens, Musk testifies against Sam Altman
Elon Musk testified in a federal trial in Oakland, California, accusing Sam Altman of betraying OpenAI's original nonprofit mission. A U.S. judge sharply reprimanded Musk for a wave of social media posts targeting Altman just hours before the trial opened. Musk said the dispute stems from leadership choices that shifted OpenAI toward commercial goals rather than its founding safety-focused remit. The roughly three-week trial will determine control and public accountability at one of the most influential AI developers and could shape how powerful AI is governed.
Elon Musk's trial vs Sam Altman & OpenAI has begun • Musk's team tried to position him as a good guy with a 'humanitarian concern' about AI • A prospective juror said Musk is 'a greedy, racist, homophobic piece of garbage' • Judge denied removing some potential jurors who were negative about Musk

give that juror a medal
Two men with punchable faces.
The mean girls are fighting. May both of them be flung into the sun.
who am i supposed to root for i hate them both
To know Elon is to hate Elon. You’d have to go to… I don’t know… North Sentinel Island?… If you’re looking for people who are impartial to Elon Musk at this point in history
The judge hated the juror for speaking facts lol
SNL is gonna have gold material for this.
(FT) - OpenAI’s $500bn Stargate plan to secure computing power is being reworked and, in places, abandoned. @financialtimes.com www.ft.com/content/664a...
It always felt like more of an aspiration than a realistic project. Why? Too many cooks in the kitchen. Too much investment pressure. Too much tech uncertainty (direction, limitations, etc) Too much heat on environmental impacts.
@edzitron.com was way ahead in calling this!!
“We Created the Demand” is the sentence every investor who has money into OpenAI should be afraid of. In business the demand has to exist organically. It can not be simply created for shits and giggles. That’s a false demand, on false deals, out of false buildings for semi-false tech. Idiots.
Idk but the whole thing always reminded me of Elisabeth Holmes and Theranos. Sam Altman gives the same vibes.
and the RAM memory cartel producers got the memo?
Perhaps the realization that the promises of AI outran the reality. The reality being that no matter how many people you can fire or how many expensive subscriptions you sell the estimated $5 trillion in investment by 2030 won't be paid back in any acceptable time frame
