James Talarico makes final pitch to Texas voters

politicsNov 3, 2026201,011

On the eve of the midterms James Talarico, a 37-year-old Texas state representative and former teacher, made a final campaign push in Texas urging voters to turn out in a close U.S. Senate race against incumbent Ken Paxton. Talarico has led in recent polls but the campaign describes itself as an underdog fighting “billionaire mega-donors and their puppet politicians” and is running heavy grassroots fundraising through ActBlue. He drew large crowds at events in Austin and campaigned alongside Democratic statehouse candidate Gina Hinojosa while highlighting Paxton’s impeachment and accusations that he accepted wealthy donors’ influence. Strategists say Paxton must hold strong margins in his Collin County base while Talarico needs epic returns in Travis County to convert his polling edge into a win. The closing rallies and turnout appeals are aimed at shifting county margins tomorrow to determine the statewide outcome.
