Super Mario Galaxy marks its 19th anniversary today, prompting posts that lean into nostalgia and a renewed itch to play. One person remembers it as their first Super Mario on the Wii and says it remains a favorite to this day. Another post names Super Mario Galaxy alongside Super Mario Galaxy 2 and other platformers they want to learn or submit a time for, highlighting a speedrun interest. A third message praises Galaxy's intensity, contrasting it with slower, more fashion-focused games and suggesting players want to return to its momentum.

I’m playing more Super Mario Galaxy tonight. I’m up to 37 stars now. I should definitely be up to over 40 before the night’s over 😄

From the live-action Super Mario Galaxy movie: Rosalina is a single mom living in the South Jersey suburbs, struggling to keep it together as she raises her several hundred star-children. Yes, she has an affair with Mario, and, yes, it causes a rift between her and Peach. Directed by Todd Field.

Your intrepid author doing her best with a Princess Rosalina costume, absolutely at the end of her Halloween tank, gripping a slice of pizza like it was the last life boat leaving the Titanic.

Sometimes it feels like Super Mario Bros still doesn't get enough credit for how it aced so many concepts that several of its imitators struggled with. There's a lot of nuance in there. Hell, some of its sequels sometimes drop the ball. The Fire Flower is a momentum-killing travesty in Galaxy.
