Milwaukee Brewers win first World Series title, beat Tampa Bay Rays 4-1

sportsOct 29, 202623518

The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 in Game 5 to win their first World Series title, completing a four-games-to-one victory and ending the franchise’s 58th year without a championship. Rookie shortstop Cooper Pratt drove in two runs and Jacob Misiorowski pitched five and two-thirds scoreless innings before leaving with a right calf cramp as Milwaukee built a four-run lead. William Contreras was named World Series MVP after hitting .381/.435/.429 with four RBIs and throwing out four would-be base stealers while overturning 10 of 13 calls with the automated challenge system. Trevor Megill was mobbed on the mound after Richie Palacios grounded to second baseman Brice Turang, who threw to Jake Bauers for the final out before a sold-out crowd of 40,489 at Tropicana Field. Christian Yelich, the 2018 NL MVP and the Brewers’ longest-tenured hitter, said, "It’s the best feeling ever...we’re so happy to bring it home to them." The Brewers had reached the World Series only once before, losing to the St Louis Cardinals in seven games in 1982, and had been three outs from completing a sweep in Game 4 before surrendering a 12th-inning lead.

The Cubs winning the World Series in 2016 sent the world off its axis. Let the Brewers winning in 2026 set everything back on the right path once again.

the Brewers joined the 1990 Reds and 1983 Orioles as the only teams to allow no more than four runs in a game throughout the entirety of a Postseason that culminated with a World Series championship since playoffs expanded in 1969

The small-ball Milwaukee Brewers playing in the smallest market in the majors are World Series champions for the first time in franchise history.

Honestly I think we can keep the bit going for another 50 years, God willing.

I'm convinced that we'll be the last ringless team in the MLB Rays and Padres have come relatively close and the Mariners are a bit cursed... but we are straight up hopeless

Billy MacDee3

At this rate the Rays will be back in 2029 for their 4th attempt.

Thinking of the Hammer tonight, who gave Milwaukee baseball fans their first World Series championship with the Braves and was a bright spot in the Brewers’ early years.

CC Sabathia told me yesterday that if the Brewers won the World Series he will "probably go to the parade." 👀

Here's my recap of Game 5, in which the Milwaukee Brewers methodically took apart the Tampa Bay Rays and provided a fitting conclusion for a methodically superlative season.

Sometimes a team gets hot and wins a ring but everyone knows they weren’t the best team that year. Fuck that. The 2026 Milwaukee Brewers were THE SHIT.

The @brewerfan.bsky.social coverage of this World Series championship will go on for quite a while, but here's where I hit a stopping point for tonight. On the right 'who's: brewerfanatic.com/news-rumors/...

The Brewers have the best record in baseball over the last 5 years. The Yankees last won the World Series in 2009 and the Mets last won the World Series during the Reagan administration

The Dodgers were unbeatable last year only if you think a salary cap would have made the Blue Jays let their players take leads off third base

Martin Schneider1

Wait, this is the Dodgers still. Brewers are #2.
