Tampa Bay rallied in the bottom of the 12th for a 4-3 walk-off win over the Milwaukee Brewers, preventing a World Series sweep and forcing a Game 5 on Wednesday. Milwaukee had been moments away from its first championship in 57 years after rookie Cooper Pratt’s homer put the Brewers ahead 3-2, and the crowd at Tropicana Field was primed to celebrate. The Brewers’ bullpen, which had thrown eight consecutive scoreless innings, unraveled when Joey Ortiz’s throw on a Junior Caminero grounder skipped past first baseman Jake Bauers, setting the stage. Pinch-runner Cedric Mullins moved to third on a Liam Hicks single, Jonny DeLuca’s single tied the game, and Chandler Simpson’s hit loaded the bases before pinch-hitter Ben Williamson delivered the game-winning single to right. Rays starter Griffin Jax said the club has given the Brewers extra chances over recent games, and Caminero credited Milwaukee’s strong play while acknowledging Tampa Bay found a way to extend the series. Tampa Bay is now the fifth team in World Series history to force a Game 5 after trailing 3-0; Game 5 could see Brewers ace Drew Rasmussen on the mound.
