Hunter's Moon rises, four consecutive supermoons begin next month

scienceOct 26, 202691766

The Hunter's Moon peaked as a full Moon at 04:11 GMT on Monday, visible across the UK from Sunday evening 25 October into the morning of 26 October with moonrise just after 16:00 GMT and moonset between 07:00 and 08:00 GMT. This is the 11th full Moon of 13 in 2026 and the last before a run of four consecutive supermoons beginning with the Beaver Supermoon on 24 November. Observers may notice an orange or reddish tint when the Moon is low because short-wavelength blue light is scattered by the atmosphere, and the Moon can seem larger near the horizon due to the "Moon Illusion." The Orionid meteor shower is just past its peak, but increased lunar brightness could hide some meteors; allow time for your eyes to adjust. Storm Boelo will bring rain and strong winds to northern Scotland early Sunday night and blustery showers in parts of western Britain, while most of the UK has better early-night viewing before cloud spreads from the south-west. If clouds block the Hunter's Moon, the next full Moon viewing opportunity is 24 November, when the Beaver Supermoon is expected to occur.
