Steam Next Fest is live and hosting a wave of playable demos, including the restoration demo for Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor which is available during Next Fest through October 26 and will launch digitally on November 6 from boutique publisher SNEG in collaboration with Wizards of the Coast. The Pool of Radiance demo transfers progress to the full game, showcases up to 4K widescreen support, optional Legacy mode, controller support, Steam Achievements, and promises over 100 hours of gameplay. Developers are streaming developer Q&As, posting release updates, and urging players to try demos such as Hypnagogia remaster, Colorways, and others highlighted in social posts. At the same time several social posts warned about a surge of AI-generated submissions, using phrases like "there's SO much AI in the current steam next fest" and urging people to "avoid the AI slop." One shared browser tool called the Steam Viewer that includes an AI filter and other sorting options to help players find demos. Indie devs in posts said the event feels crowded and difficult to get noticed, and some advised checking demo pages for AI disclosures or using filters to surface human-made projects.
