After seeing universal praise for Street Fighter movie's animated flashbacks (by Studio Titmouse), I am once again out here demanding we stop all live action adaptations and instead focus our efforts on animated adaptations.

Box office geek/Theater insider: it is having an incredible run this weekend with little precedent. Large, limited release. 855 theaters; wide releases typically 2500-4000. It is grossing ~double per screen as Street Fighter, which is doing pretty well. This is insane for a 3 hour documentary.

It made $5.5M between Thursday previews and Friday. That is on par with Primetime, a small wide release that did well. In Chicagoland, I would bet my life it will do significantly more on Saturday. More showtimes and they are almost all sold out. No documentary, forget length, does this.

If I were a movie studio head exec, I would commission insane shit, like an Xmen vs Street Fighter movie that leads into a Marvel vs Capcom movie. Both would be critically panned and box office bombs. Yet, 20-30 years later you will have people insisting they were good actually.
