Will Ospreay retained the AEW World Championship by winning the inaugural Clockwork Carnage main event at WrestleDream on Saturday in Orlando’s Addition Financial Arena. AEW introduced the Clockwork Carnage gimmick, an eight-person timed match inspired by A Clockwork Orange, starting with Ospreay and Konosuke Takeshita and adding a new entrant every three minutes; eliminations occurred by pinfall or submission even before all entrants had appeared. Entrants included Speedball Bailey, Ricochet, Darby Allin, Kazuchika Okada, Samoa Joe, and Adam Copeland; Speed Bailey was the first elimination and Okada eliminated Takeshita. The bout ran a 15-minute countdown phase during which Darby Allin and Ospreay each recorded multiple pins and Joe submitted Ospreay for one of his two pinfall/submission tallies. Adam Copeland scored back-to-back pinfalls on Samoa Joe and Ricochet with a ladder spear but did not win; the match finished with Ospreay still champion. On the WrestleDream media scrum Tony Khan announced Ilja Dragunov will make his Dynamite debut on Wednesday.
