Liverpool 0-3 Man City, Gravenberch sent off
A freak show that emphasised the farce of the Premier League's current unreality The response of City fans, which does complicate some of the discussion I think they are "victims" but that's harder when you're revelling in it (before the win) www.independent.co.uk/sport/footba...
The whole thing is farcical. Then we have to listen to Mark Chapman say we ‘have to separate the performance’ from the cheating. When the performance is the specific output that the cheating was designed to deliver.
The danger with the perception that they are victims is that it singles them out from other fans. Everyone is a victim of this, none more than others, but one group had a much better time.
It’s not “harder”. It’s *impossible*. The remorselessness is grotesque.
Football been part of my life for longer than I can remember. Done with it until this is sorted. Man City fans giving Trump vibes here. All just very sad
I know you didn’t write the headline, but the cheats didn’t blow LFC away. They were second best (crap, to be honest) until a very dodgy refereeing decision from a Mancunian referee changed everything, as he very often seems to do when refereeing Liverpool (and Citeh as well). The Premier League.
City, their fans and their players are shameless. The smug look on Haaland's face at full time. Disgusting.
If this isn't how a journalist is talking about any City match, they're probably not worth listening to on the subject
Not sure being a football fan going to an away match is quite for, Miguel. You write what you want. We’ll have a laugh.
Yeah, let's be clear: there are plenty of City fans we shouldn't feel sorry for.
What would he like us to do? Sit with heads bowed? Not acknowledge a goal? Walk around as if the world is on our shoulders? You can tell when someone has never invested their heart & soul into a football club. This is the finest example
This is the perfect embodiment of the whole bullshit. It’s City’s fault you invested badly… it’s City’s fault you’re owned by an American hedge fund… it’s City’s fault Liverpool were absolute DOG SHIT this afternoon and Anfield was about as intimidating as Migz himself.
No, it wasn’t meaningless unless your goal in life is to suck the fun out of everything! What possible disadvantage did Liverpool have today due to anything that happened many years ago? The ‘freak show’ is what the PL will be and would have been without City’s investment
The level of cope in this thread 😂 Not a single real football fan among them.
Don't let those cheating fucks ruin your mood people. They'll never have what we have! UTFR!!! #lfc
every game Cheaty play will be tarnished, regardless of a win or not, true fans are sickened by the time it's taking and, the corruption running through the PGMOL. If only someone would leak some information on them so the world of football can see how they cheat as well.
Everyone knew. They were cheating. Always. Why does Tevez, Aguero, Sterling sign from a bigger club if not money. Money that was cheating. That lead to success. Bought whilst cheating. They're still cheating. Bit they'll never be Liverpool
Never. Even less if the Premier League actually do their fucking job properly and hand out the appropriate sanctions 👍 It's a none result. Well done our boys for showing that intensity and the crowd for making it as hostile as possible 👏 👍 We'll get back on our perch. They won't. EVER #LFC
Honestly, this one doesn’t hurt as much, it’s just irritating. We played decent in spite of those out injured, until the red card. That fundamentally changed the game. Munoz finally showed his stuff, best game for him so far IMHO. Anything City does at this point is completely meaningless.
It's a first loss of the season for Andoni Iraola's Liverpool. The red card absolutely killed us and Man City punish us with three clinical finishes. Tough to take that. Download The Anfield Wrap app now for all of our post-match reaction 👇 📲 get-taw.app?source=b
City’s cheating can’t hide the fact the liverpool squad is ridiculously imbalanced and lacking any serious depth. Considering the massive amount of money spent since summer 2025, that is a shocking indictment. #LFC
The legacy of Richard Hughes continues to hamstring us. Could be a long road back to competing.
The thing is I should be upset but it’s tough when they shouldn’t even be playing
I think if the cheats aren't expelled, a lot of people will drift away from the English game. I'm not seeing LFC fans upset at a loss, I'm seeing them angry at cheats prospering or just losing faith in the game. It will be hard to remain invested to this extent knowing it's a sham. #115 #lfc #cheats
I’m thinking of suing City for my Now TV sports subscription for the rest of the season, as after today, I don’t love football as much as I used to. I hope I get that love back.
A loss annoys but you can get over it eventually and on to the next. But cheated when team you love did everything by the rules hurts far more and the rage at the continued injustice does not fade.
I'm an LFC season ticket hokder and have decided that after today I will not attend for the rest of thr season. This is because we appear to be just accepting that cheats can do what ever they wish.
Needs to be more than an expulsion. They needed their stolen titles revoked too
They won’t be expelled, that needs 14 of the 19 clubs to agree and I don’t see that many agreeing. I was a fan of a massive points deduction, relegation and big fine. However I have come round to a multi year points deduction because I think that hurts them more.
Well put Alex. I love my club to bits but with the way things are it's impossible to make a proper challenge & we've known this for yrs. With both Jürgen & Arne we felt extremely anxious to drop a single point cause we knew City'd never fail with their massive squad. We had to be more than perfect
