Apple set a hardware launch for Tuesday, October 13 with the tagline "Welcome home," and Apple marketing chief Greg Joswiak tweeted "Welcome home. October 13." The company invited some media to an "Apple Experience" in Tribeca, New York at 9:00 a.m., where attendees will likely get hands-on time with new products. Coverage is expected to center on smart-home hardware, led by a long-rumored home hub with a roughly 6-inch square display, a camera and presence sensor, multiuser recognition for customized interfaces, wall-mount and half-dome speaker base versions, and possible pricing around $350. Apple TV 4K is expected to receive an A19 or A19 Pro chip, more RAM, the N1 networking chip, and an upgraded Siri Remote. The HomePod mini is expected to gain new colors, an N1 networking chip, and a faster S-series processor that will support Siri AI. An OLED iPad mini with a faster chip and improved water resistance is also said to be in development and could appear at the October 13 showcase, while several Mac rumors may arrive later in the year instead of at this event.
