Spooky Season events and horror picks kick off for October

Creators, streamers and local shops have begun rolling out Halloween programming for October, including horror game lists, watch parties, curated exhibitions and monthlong art projects. A recurring recommendation is Alien: Isolation, a 2014 sci-fi horror title the scormey guide calls “one hell of a scary ride” and notes is ported to current consoles, Android and the Nintendo Switch. The guide recommends Xbox Series X for the best experience because it can support 60 frames per second, while the PlayStation 5 runs the PS4 version and is locked at 30 FPS; a decent PC can also exceed 30 FPS. Across social posts, creators announced livestreams and playthroughs, 31-day spooky art and exploration series, and a Spooky Shakespeare exhibition showcasing Victorian illustrations. Specific events named by creators include planned Silent Hill F streams, multi-day Halloween challenges, and a mix of local exhibitions and online watch parties that will run through October.
