Blue Sky Art Show

The Blue Sky Art Show is a weekly community event; today's theme is #3rdPlace. Contributions lean into nature and place: long exposures of clouds over Colpoy's Bay at sunrise, a garden macro of a bee, a Red-capped Manakin for bird entries, and coastal and woodland scenes from Ontario, the Northumberland coast near Bamburgh, and the Sitka Spruce Forest on the Oregon coast. Styles include landscape and sunrise/skyscape photography, close-up macro work, woodland and mountain trails, and some abstract or watercolor interpretations of favorite third places. Look for dock and reservoir views, early-morning canal and trail shots, and mushroom and fungi close-ups framed as personal refuges.

A photo looking out over Elton Reservoir in Bury one wintery morning last December.
There is a thin blanket of mist rolling over the far end of the reservoir and is a soft pinkish grey.
There is a red buoy floating in the still water of the tree lined reservoir.
A wonderful place to escape everyday life

When I was a kid, we lived near a reservoir and my grandmother, who had only travelled to the seaside very occasionally lived with us. She used to visit the reservoir dam wall and poke her head over the battlements to have her hair blown almost away in the often raging wind.
