Newcastle United unveil new club crest

sportsOct 1, 202622272

Newcastle United unveiled a redesigned club crest after more than two years of consultation that included supporter events, focus groups, workshops, surveys and input from industry experts. The club commissioned an independent poll completed by more than 27,000 supporters; roughly two thirds selected the new design as their first choice. The club says the new crest remains drawn from Newcastle's city coat of arms, preserves the elements supporters asked to protect and was refined through repeated testing across formats. Chief Executive David Hopkinson said supporters had the “final and decisive say” and asked the club to “protect what we have, keep the elements we love, and do not start again.” Chief Creative Officer Kenneth McIver described the project as an honour and said every line was redrawn and tested for different platforms and textures. The club will roll the crest out progressively across signage, digital and broadcast platforms over the coming months and plans to put it on kits for the 2027/28 season.
