Former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem filed for divorce from her husband Bryon Noem in Hamlin County, South Dakota, on April 6, court records show; the filing was posted online Sept. 28. The couple, married since May 23, 1992, cited "irreconcilable differences" in the petition, and Noem's lawyer Michael Sabers confirmed she filed and will reserve further comment for the legal process. The split follows reporting earlier this year by the Daily Mail that said Bryon Noem paid adult entertainers and cross-dressed; a spokesperson told the New York Post Kristi Noem was "devastated" after that report. Bryon Noem's legal representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The article notes Kristi Noem was removed from her role as Homeland Security secretary on March 5 after "Operation Metro Surge" in Minnesota, and was later named special envoy to the Trump administration's "Shield of the Americas" initiative. Kristi and Bryon Noem have three children, Kassidy, Kennedy and Booker; Bryon works in the insurance industry and earned a business finance degree from Northern State University after coaching basketball and working on the family farm.
