Deadline reported that Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television are closing in on a green light for a live-action Clone Saga series for Prime Video that will center on Ben Reilly and Kaine Parker. Kelvin Yu, creator of American Born Chinese, is attached to the project and Spider-Noir showrunners Amy Pascal, Phil Lord, and Christopher Miller are expected to serve as executive producers on the new series. SlashFilm notes the show will spring from Sony’s large Spider-Man character inventory after Spider-Noir was canceled, and recalls Prime’s multi-project deal with Sony for Spider-Man adjacent streaming projects. Deadline presents conflicting accounts of the series’ approach: some sources say it will follow Ben and Kaine grappling with newly discovered identities as clones while facing other clones, while other sources say the show could change the characters’ cloning origins or give them new identities. The SlashFilm piece outlines the comics backstory that created Kaine and Ben through Miles Warren the Jackal’s cloning experiments and notes prior two-character Scarlet Spider stories as precedent. Prime is closing in on an order but no deal has been finalized and no release date has been announced.
