On World Heart Day 2026 in Visakhapatnam, Apollo Hospitals launched an advanced cardiac command centre that integrates a smart ambulance network, tele-ECG services, connected-care devices, telemedicine and an airport medical centre to transmit ECGs and vitals to specialists en route. Apollo also introduced an AI-based cardiac risk score to estimate a person’s 10-year cardiovascular risk and categorise individuals as low, moderate or high risk. Doctors at KIMS Hospitals, Seethammadhara and Apollo warned that coronary artery disease and heart attacks are increasingly occurring in patients in their late 30s and 40s. Interventional cardiologist Dr. Ganesh Kasinadhuni and cardiologist Dr. N.K. Panigrahi stressed prevention from a young age and flagged abdominal obesity, diabetes, sedentary lifestyles, workplace stress, high refined-carbohydrate diets, smoking, alcohol and genetics as key risk factors. Clinicians urged people not to dismiss exertional chest pressure, unusual breathlessness or pain radiating to the jaw, arm or back and warned that delays in seeking care reduce opportunities for timely intervention. World Heart Day’s 2026 campaign message, "Don’t Miss a Beat," emphasises recognising warning signs, regular monitoring of blood pressure, blood sugar and lipid levels, and using connected emergency care to shorten time to treatment.
