Blue Sky Art Show, theme 'Lights'

photographySep 26, 202640214,807

The Blue Sky Art Show theme today is Lights, a weekly community prompt asking contributors to share luminous scenes and effects. Submissions emphasize landscapes and urban illumination, from night installations and lighthouses to shafts of sunlight and neon windows, with recurring moods of sparkle, silhouette, and moody monochrome. Concrete examples include the Sensorio light exhibit in Paso Robles with hills covered in thousands of solar-powered, color-shifting lights; sunbeams and storm clouds over Loch Arkaig, Scotland; and a giant light atop the restored St. Marks Lighthouse that now offers tours. Look for standout images such as a neon cafe window titled “Morning Glory,” paper-lantern-like fixtures rising in a hotel atrium, and monochrome studies of John Rylands Library Manchester under the lights.

#BlueskyArtShow #Lights Light exhibit at Sensorio in Paso Robles, California. The hills are covered with thousands of solar-powered lights that shift in colors. sensoriopaso.com #ECK #PasoRobles #WestCoastKin #Sensorio #LightExhibition

It is just after dusk and the thousands of colored lights are illuminated. They cover the rolling hills with many different colors, giving the effect of patches of glowing wildflowers. The golfball sized lights are on a stem, so if it is breezy, they will sway with the breeze. They are placed close together to maximize the color and effect. Not seen at night are the scattered small solar panels placed throughout the exhibit. There are paths through the light, so visitors can walk through the fields. Sensorio has added other light exhibits as well, but this is my favorite. Located in Paso Robles, California as a permanent display.

What is that doing to the insects and wildlife? Probably no one knows.......

Diane Furlong3

It reminds me of the photos that I’ve seen of fields of Tulips. Very pretty!

Paso Robles is a beautiful town. I’ve been there. Spent some time with the good people.

I walked through the exhibit on a warm Summer evening the year that it opened. It's quite the experience.

I’m going to a dark place, in case anybody needs any dark place items. 👀 #BlueSkyArtShow #lights #sky #Stunday

The sun coming up over the Thompson River, in the Interior of British Columbia. The sky is clear, and there are several dark mountains and trees in the distance. There’s a perfect mirror image reflecting on the water.

Morning #lights sparkling like diamonds on the water for #BlueSkyArtShow #anhinga #birds #waterbird #nature #wildlife #thelittlethings #ECK #B&W #photography

The silhouette of an anhinga water bird standing on a branch protruding from the water with sunlight sparkling on the surface.
Interesting information :
The anhinga is a large, slender water bird known as the "snakebird" or "water turkey"that inhabits the warmer swamps, rivers, and ponds of the Americas.
Adult males are glossy black with silvery-white streaks on the wings and back; females and immatures feature a pale tan or light brown head, neck, and breast.
They possess a sharp, dagger-like bill, a long S-shaped neck, and a wide, fan-like tail.
Unlike most water birds, anhingas have wettable plumage and dense bones, which help them sink and maneuver underwater.

Light sparkling on the water is the best! Add a silhouetted bird and it's perfection! 🤍

Today's #BlueskyArtShow theme is #lights. There's a giant light atop the St. Marks Lighthouse. This beautiful structure was restored a few years ago and now tours are available to walk through this stunning piece of history. #photography #landscape #ECK #infrared #fullspectrum #lighthouses
