Bird of the Day is running the theme Borbs, a prompt for photos of birds looking plump. The gallery today centers on cozy, puffed-up poses and soft winter fluff, with entries ranging from small songbirds to shorebirds and owls captured mid-fluff or settled down. Standout posts include a Bewick’s wren singing in Seattle, a Western Black-eared Wheatear photographed near Pinoso, and a puffed-up Robin at Forest Farm Nature Reserve in Cardiff, plus borby shots of a Burrowing Owl, two Sanderlings with a Red Knot on the beach, and a Mandarin Duck. The alternate theme is Brown, and people are tagging submissions with #Borbs and #Brown to join in.
