Scientists warn planetary boundaries have been massively breached
Your 'bonus moment of doom' for today: "The latest science confirms that we have breached, that we've transgressed seven of the nine planetary boundaries that regulate the health of the entire planet." www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnpE...
Did someone say 7 of 9?
"Some temperature history of the last 12.000 years - it's important to understand how fast we warm the climate compared to other periods... …and deglaciation periods should be warming on steroids: For understanding the graph…[please see #ALT.txt]" by @umsonst.bsky.social #doomsky #collapse
And getting worse. You have to have your head buried in the sand to not be a doomer.
We could address the planets Health right now. Except our insurance doesn’t cover it.
What's a few transgressions between friends.
We are systematically and consciously destroying the natural world So that a tiny elite can become ever richer There WILL be a reckoning www.theguardian.com/environment/...
Absolutely. This brand new documentary presented by Benedict Cumberbatch delves into this in detail and also has some tips and suggestions for what we can all do to prevent the worst from happening. Worth watching:
The elite, helped by the world leaders and the mainstream media, brainwash the population to believe that this is the only way, that by not destroying our planet we're all going to starve.
I fear it is already too late, and/or the industrial momentum can't be stopped.
Whatever the test is for proving a candidate for leadership has unlimited neurological capacity, we need that - like yesterday. There’s no time left for humouring ignorance. The universe is largely dead; we know that, and we have the sentient gift to maintain life on Earth as if it were rare. It is.
The 95 percent are eating meat and dairy products, which is a huge part of the explanation for climate and ecological collapse.
Start with not buying their products. It's easy. And eat less meat. Even easier.

We have to remember that these people do not care. They either think environmentalism is woke and gay, or they think the earth is not important because the end times are coming There's no convincing them, we have to crush them
Geoffrey Lean: 18 years ago, scientists drew up 9 planetary boundaries not be transgressed if the world is to remain safe and secure. Today they report we have crossed a record seven—with ocean acidification joining others like climate change and biodiversity loss. The only two boundaries to have
There is no Planet B.
'Ocean acidification became the latest to breach its boundary in 2025, joining climate change, biosphere integrity, land system change, freshwater change, biogeochemical flows, & novel entities as boundaries now transgressed. All 7 are at record highs.' oceanographicmagazine.com/news/seven-o...
I’ve had my coffee and I’m ready for you this morning, @serenaribena.bsky.social !
I didn't have ocean acidification as part of my 'how doomed are we' calculation. I knew it was bad but not life ending bad.
I was aware ocean acidification was building, my friend (as Canada's lobster fishermen are facing challenges due to this so it hits our news from time to time) but I didn't realize it was so close to breaching the planetary boundry. This isn't good. It isn't good at all.
I see you’re getting 27C today! So you may put your patio heater back in your gazebo. Morning Serena. Those boundaries fell out of fashion a while back. Too slow? Too many? Too complex? Who knows why!
Oh for f*cks sake!! Hello my dear.
'The only two boundaries to have actually improved over the past decade are stratospheric ozone depletion and atmospheric aerosol loading, though the report’s authors warn that global progress may be unmasking unsafe aerosol levels that persist in some regions.'
‘Planetary boundaries’ necessary for flourishing of life have been massively breached ,amid ongoing pollution and habitat destruction, scientists warn Economic growth is killing life on this Earth and yet priority of every Govt is more economic growth www.theguardian.com/environment/...
Planetary boundaries that shouldn't be breached - likely at odds with the idea of "undeveloped land" referenced earlier, if only bc they place limits on how far some oligarchs can go in search of resources to exploit.
A lot, but not all, ordinary people do care about extinctions. But the mega rich and their political and media sock puppets don’t. bsky.app/profile/ecow...
