Nvidia co-founder and CEO Jensen Huang told CBS News there is "0% chance" AI will destroy the world by 2030, calling warnings of near-term human extinction "doomsday narratives" and "irresponsible." Huang singled out former Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon’s social media claim that AI could become superhuman and kill humanity within the decade, noting such predictions are "not grounded in science." He said Nvidia’s success depends on safe deployment of its products and cautioned that existing laws on cybersecurity and liability should be applied rather than letting alarmism excuse legal responsibility. The dispute follows Anthropic publishing a threat intelligence report on misuse of its models and public calls from Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and Elon Musk to slow AI development. President Donald Trump has dismissed AI anxiety as a "hoax," while US Treasury secretary Scott Bessent said the US and China agreed to set up an AI dialogue mechanism to alert each other about potential dangers. The Tony Blair Institute published a paper saying AI will transform society within a decade but warning national institutions are not equipped to make the required choices.
