Rep. Jasmine Crockett honors Chris Brown in Congressional Record

newsSep 13, 2026543,148

Rep. Jasmine Crockett stood onstage at AT&T Stadium outside Dallas and presented a congressional recognition for Chris Brown and Usher while the pair performed, shouting “We are here because of Chris Brown” and calling Brown “a real one.” Crockett was joined for the announcement by Texas State Rep. Venton Jones and music producer RoccStar, and the honor was entered in the Congressional Record. The New York Post notes the plaque makes no mention of Brown’s 2009 guilty plea for assaulting Rihanna and cites a 2023 incident for which Brown later pleaded guilty after allegedly smashing a bottle over a music producer’s head. Crockett recently lost the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate to Rep. James Talarico. After the event, critics posted strong objections to Crockett’s decision to honor Brown given his legal history. A representative from Crockett’s office did not respond to requests for comment.

Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett and Representative Venton Jones honored Chris Brown and Usher with a Congressional Record recognition from the U.S. House of Representatives recognizing their artistry in Arlington, Texas. Truly some wild nonsense to honor the man who beat Rihanna.

1. Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett took the stage at Chris Brown and Usher’s concert Saturday night and honored Brown — who has been convicted of abuse multiple times — by announcing that his career and impact would be officially documented in the Congressional Record.
