Bird of the Day, theme 'Birds In Abstract'

natureSep 12, 202621310,835

Today's Bird of the Day event is themed #BirdsInAbstract, a prompt inviting motion blur, obscure angles, and contrasting textures. Entries lean into surreal and painterly looks, with reflections, motion-blurred silhouettes, cropped closeups, and unexpected compositions. Notable posts include an egret seen as a reflection, a tricolored heron bathed in warm golden sunrise glow, and a tufted titmouse captured in a photographic miscue that suggests electricity. Scan the gallery for an anhinga with a fish reflected in the water, a back-view mallard, and a male siskin shaking off rain.

A reflection and almost a color inversion (not sure how to say this 😅)

Naxa713

I loved the reflecting pool.

Gfrun2

Strange, is the essence of reflection aesthetics nothing but dream? Art for dreaming.🤣🤔

SaraG2

Wow! The reflection is stunning.

Mrobb12

I could wait all day and never get this photo. Fantastic!

It took me a bit to sort out what this was. Abstract indeed and very cool

Helen Bennett 🌿3

Absolutely gorgeous... theme perfect! 👏😊

Elizabeth H2

I'm fascinated by the feathers at the base of the beak. They look like coral or trees from a Suess book.

A Man Out of Time2

That's some sharp shooting, my friend!

Elderdrake1

Beautiful. Also, needs a funny caption, like: “If you give me the nectar, that’ll be the end of it. But if you don’t, I will look for you, I will find it… and I will slurp it.”

What an absolute ⭐️ of a photo!! Even before I read the full post, I said, “Ooo! Ooo! An Anna’s Hummie!” Did I say I really, really love this photo? #theeyeoftheartist #NoAISlop

I sense that Helen is looking for some more skillful interpretations with today's #BirdOfTheDay theme #BirdsInAbstract. But on behalf of my camera, I'd like to use this opportunity to share this painting it did of two herons. 📷🎨🖌️

A photo of two grey herons wading in a bay. The camera has tried to fill in pixels, making it look more like a painting than a detailed photo.

Glorious chaos on the beach at sunset #BirdsInAbstract #BirdOfTheDay #birds 🌿

A blur of silhouettes wings and feet and bodies as a flock of birds lands in shallow water reflecting oranges and blues at sunset. They are recognizable as birds if you look closely but also it looks like a bunch of abstract shapes and colors.
