2026 Ballon d'Or Nominees Unveiled, Coaches Shortlisted
The Ballon d'Or nominees list is out. Four active #NWSL players, one of which — Rose Lavelle — is a #USWNT player. Manaka Matsukubo also played in the NWSL for the eligible time before her summer transfer to Chelsea. #USWNT's Lily Yohannes is also a nominee for Young Talent of the Year.
Club America is nominated for the Women's Club of the Year, the only non-European team to be nominated this year. Club America beat Gotham and the Washington Spirit - two #NWSL teams - to win the 2026 Concacaf title.
what does the graphic design person have against Pernile ? (I *think* it's Pernile, though it's almost impossible to read that line)
Barcelona won their first two games this year with 9 goals for and 0 against. Last year their goal differential was +112. I don't think the award should go to a player on a team that is so infrequently challenged.
As someone who has found it mildly amusing how prevalent Lindsey Heaps has been on this list in recent years, even funnier she transfers to Denver for like 8 games and they're like whoops she's bad now
Remember when Bay FC let Scarlett Camberos walk for nothing
it's never really a surprise when these lists aren't dominated by NWSL players … which continues to make the fact that the league constructed part of a very important roster rule around awards like the Ballon d'Or a head-scratcher
The Eurocentricness of these lists never ceases to annoy me. I can see it for the men’s game. But the women’s? C’mon.
Congratulations to former ACFC (and Bay FC) player, Scarlett Camberos, for making the nominees list for the Ballon d’Or for her outstanding season at Club America.
No Trinity Rodman so I'm checked out
We must reject the psyop that says European women’s soccer has surpassed the American game
The fact that Trinity Rodman, Naomi Girma, and Emily Fox aren’t here is laughable, but we already know this award is laughable.
It’s that time of year again to get mad at those people in France
