Trump's Space Force uniform mockups likened to Starship Troopers

Donald Trump posted a graphic of a “next generation” Space Force service dress he said was “inspired by the discipline and functionality of the Starship Trooper uniform.” The image shows a sleek charcoal collared jacket and pants with a black belt, black boots, a matching cap, and the Space Force Delta symbol on the collar, sleeve patch, belt buckle, and cap. Critics pointed out Starship Troopers is a 1997 film about a future Earth governed by a fascist regime that wages war against giant alien bugs, directed by Paul Verhoeven, who grew up in Nazi-occupied Netherlands. Commentators compared the look to the villains’ costumes in sci-fi films and to Nazi or Imperial aesthetics; menswear writer Derek Guy called it the kind of design used to signal the bad guys, and editor Jonah Goldberg said he was concerned whether the designers grasped Verhoeven’s satirical intent. Conservative voices also noted the similarity to Star Wars Imperial uniforms, with Christian broadcaster Erick Erickson calling it a cross between Star Trek symbols and Star Wars Imperial forces. The Independent says it is unclear whether Trump will push an actual uniform change or whether the graphic was part of his regular social media posts, and the paper reached out to the Space Force and White House for comment.

The new space force uniforms are directly inspired by the uniforms from the Starship Troopers film...which were inspired by the uniforms of the Nazis that Paul Verhoeven saw occupying the Netherlands during WWII

TRUMPS SPACE FORCE UNIFORM Widely mocked for its similarities to Starship Troopers and a general appearance of 'we're the bad guys' from a space opera look, its a genuine proposal. I feel the sieg and the heil not far behind Citizen.

Trump's proposed new Space Force uniform. The Nazi vibes are not a joke. In my new book BACKSLIDE (publishes tomorrow), I write: "If we have any hope of finding our way, we must start by being explicit about the dangers of our current moment... This is our 1933." bookshop.org/a/56272/9781...
