bsky38.com launched a public poll to name the 38 Most Influential Bluesky Posters of 2026, letting each voter cast up to ten votes. The site reported more than 10,000 unique voters, over 81,000 votes and roughly 15,000 nominees written in about 30 hours. Participants treated the poll variously as a joke, a vanity contest and a campaign vehicle, with users posting self-reported ranks ranging from about 45 to 5,559 and some urging followers to spend one of their ten votes. Ballots include votes for automated accounts, and some users advised blocking the poll account while others argued the list better captures influence than raw engagement tallies. The rollout has provoked mockery, light campaigning, and authenticity concerns about AI involvement, but it is still actively collecting votes and shaping who gets spotlighted on the site.

I'd bet that @scalzi.com would be tickled that a cat had overtaken him. I kind of miss my human account, where I followed or was mutuals with a bunch of these people. But I just can't let myself log into it anymore. I dissociate and end up doomscrolling for hours.

honestly the moment i saw bluesky 38 i got a bad vibe and blocked it. didn't even consider that AI may be involved but given that bluesky itself is also vibe-coded junk i shouldn't be surprised. the account is @bsky38.com - block it and don't engage with their popularity contest/AI slop combo.
