Bird of the Day, theme 'Inflight'

Bird of the Day today is the InFlight theme, asking for any bird captured in flight, with an alternate Grounded theme for birds on natural ground. The gallery leans toward wildlife photography and minimal nature shots, featuring shorebirds, raptors, swallows, herons, and hummingbirds in motion. Standout entries include a cattle egret in flight, a Great Grey Owl swooping upward over a snowy backdrop, and a male Frilled Coquette hummingbird photographed at Pousada Ninho da Cambacica in Mato Grosso do Sul. Other notable scenes show a barn swallow banking by the sea, a common tern flying off with a fish, and a black skimmer feeding at a wildlife refuge.
