Pentagon gives polygraph tests to Joint Staff in leak probe
Trump, Wednesday: "For the treasonous SCUM that refuses to accurately report on our Military Operation in Iran, we have virtually unlimited amounts of Mid to High Grade Ammunition," NYT, today: Trump has polygraphed 50 to find out who told you Trump is lying. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/04/u...
Note that there is no documented instance of a polygraph dragnet ever actually solving a federal leak investigation.
I find it strange that the story never mentions that polygraphs don't work. It seems relevant that what they're doing will not actually uncover the truth.
The polygraphs are less a way to establish the truth than a warning about the cost of revealing it. That chills the very people who might correct a propaganda claim.
I mean, Trump says they have unlimited amounts of high grade ammunition, which would be a lie each and every time any leader in the world said it.
land of the free, yeah?
The problem isn’t the leak. The problem is the lies. cbwrong.blogspot.com/2026/09/im-7...
The US government has come up with a plan to address the problem of a munitions shortage that’s primarily due to the Iran war: Devote more time and energy during wartime to finding out and punishing whoever informed the public about the munitions shortage that’s primarily due to the Iran war.
On a mass scale, this is the “If no one else knows it didn’t happen” regime.
We shan’t speak of the leak hunt story leaking…LOL
Countdown to new Signalgate revelations…
Not unlike instead of arresting a rapist, arrest the woman for reporting the rape to the police. They create new ways to destroy our country every day.
Frog march Kegseth to the proverbial guillotine 😈
Also... aha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha they think polygraphs work ha ha ha ha ha
Trump felt he had been misled about the state of US munitions, believing stockpile issue had already been resolved. During the exchange, Hegseth shifted responsibility to Dep Def Sec Stephen Feinberg, accusing him of failing to properly keep the president informed about the extent of the depletion.
Hegseth's Pentagon straps about 50 officers from the Joint Staff to lie detector machines to investigate leaks and intimidate senior military in what appears to be an unprecedented mass polygraph blitz. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/04/u...
And news about the polygraph was then subsequently leaked
Humiliating those officers which is probably the point .
Regular reminder that absolutely no science supports lie detector machines.
Check Whiskey Pete’s Signal account
It’s a Soviet-era joke: if you announce that the leader (of DoD, in this case) is an incompetent sack of shit, you are prosecuted for sharing state secrets
Bonkers stuff. It's beyond depressing that this out of control "administration" is just viewed with a shrug by so many.
Clearly, everything is fine and not a complete, avoidable mess
No, *your* empire is crumbling!
The funny thing is that he thinks lie detectors are always accurate. The other funny thing is that he pissed off 50 senior officers.
It should be worth bearing in mind that polygraphs *do not work*!
Polygraph's continued survival in natsec always seems a tad baffling, given its questionable accuracy, false positives, etc. The fact that it hangs around despite being pseudo-science should be more of an indictment of rigidity and the allure of pseudoscience.
In Major Leak Hunt, Pentagon Gives Polygraph Tests to Joint Staff Members www.nytimes.com/2026/09/04/u...
Major Leak, he's over in personnel.
Ominous but not surprising. The funny thing is the news reinforces the fact thst Hegseth is in deep trouble. He can Death Of Stalin his way to being the worst SecDef in American history.
Doesn’t seem to have worked.
Testosterone for brains: - missile purchases and production rates are public knowledge, - high USN SM2/SM6 expenditure was noted in late 2025, - by March 2026 it was known more Patriots had been fired in the first week of the Iran war than in the 4 years of the Ukraine war.
Sucks to be wholly owned by a psychotic, tyrannical regime.
polygraphs are more about the examiner and process then the machine. To the tech there is no difference between lying or having gas. It's a mind fuck that can be beaten.
U.S. govt investigators have taken the extraordinary step of subjecting roughly 50 members of the U.S. military’s Joint Staff to polygraph tests over leaks to journalists, including about how the Iran war has created a shortage of crucial munitions. Gift link NY Times www.nytimes.com/2026/09/04/u...
Note: Polygraph (lie detector) test results are generally not admissible as evidence in court because their scientific reliability remains widely questioned. Buy don’t bother telling that to paranoid drunk Hegseth. What an insult to our top commanders. Impeach Hegseth.
I’d resign, or call the ACLU. Being in the military does mean you don’t still have rights. And doesnt the Pentagon train people to beat polygraphs?
There is a new ad for recruiting... "We will do polygraphs if we don't like you" and "for a bonus we will publicly shame you for being sympathetic or have have empathy!"
