US economy adds 162,000 jobs in August, topping forecasts
pity poor Kevin Warsh. Trump thinks a stronger-than-expected jobs report means interest rates will fall. markets know it means the opposite
Bar chart above shows how likely markets think different rate outcomes are at the September Fed meeting. Dark blue bars are where odds are now: 60% chance of hike. One shade lighter shows what the odds were yesterday, before jobs report came out (49% chance of hike) www.cmegroup.com/markets/inte...
Props to him for being so very committed to being unable to understand or learn anything. His ignorance is a masterpiece, never to be exceeded.
A report from a completely compromised BLS that has had *substantial* revisions this year.
Does anybody have faith in the recent jobs report from this administration this close to the midterms with a looming interest hike likely this month ? I don't , this administration does not get any benefit of the doubt.
OMG. Wharton should revoke his degree.
How Trump bankrupted his casinos.
Every time a jobs report is released the entire media ecosystem reports it credulously without reminding everyone that last August Trump fired the person in charge (because the report was bad) and replaced her with a loyalist. apnews.com/article/trum...
The Senate actually refused to greenlight the loyalist (Antoni), so Trump nominated a real civil servant from the BLS (Matsumoto), whom the Senate confirmed.
Trump sucks, and yes he fired McEntarfer, but the people putting these together are the same career bureaucrats that have always been, and there's no evidence these numbers are cooked. Revisions aren't new either, it's how the process has always worked. We have enough real things to be mad about.
road to dictatorship paved by the greedy media companies
Today’s jobs report will be revised down by 75%, mark it.
The jobs report is a complete fabrication for the mid terms nothing more … it’s a lie
It is all a lie.
Rumpy Dumpy Brett Matsumoto (i.e. Commissioner of US-Bureau of Labor Statistics) was selected by Rumpy Dumpy Trump in January of 2026, and falsifying facts seems to be the Commissioner's main priority; aside lying to the Senate: 'politics must not influence the data...'
It's one big lie fest
I thought the same way after seeing the numbers.
...to be revised down Nov 3rd.
If it is, it backfired as it will make it easier for the fed to raise rates to tame inflation.
The jobs report this morning came in surprisingly strong: 162,000 jobs created in August. But average job growth under Trump 2.0 is still about a third of what it was during Biden's last year.
Come on Steve! You know these will be revised down drastically. Why treat it as actual news?
guess which jobs report numbers are going to be revised down
'surprising' and likely revised down to what??
These graphs are interesting, job growth is flat or negative in all categories since trump 2.0 began in jan 2025 bsky.app/profile/carl...
Was this inflated for election purposes?
Steve, you always put economic issues into perspective. Thanks for all that you do to give us accurate information.
Breathing a small sigh of relief about the jobs report. It's just one month, Trump was totally messed up the economy the last two years, but at least something is holding on for now.
If you trust those numbers.
How do we know the Trump regime isn’t cooking up the books and reporting false numbers? They lie about everything else.
Who is left at DOL to produce reliable numbers, though? Because we could totally have a revision of these numbers by October, or after the midterms…
Until they revise the jobs report after the midterms.
Certainly not juicing the numbers and market heading into Labor Day. This admin would never do such a thing
Until the numbers get revised down in a month-or-so, like has happened every other month under Trump.
Trump’s an idiot. A strong jobs report is not an argument for lower interest rates—it can be the opposite. The Fed cuts when inflation and the economy justify it, not because America is a “better credit.” And threatening to halt trade with every country running a surplus with us is economic lunacy.
I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see the rating downgraded again.
The American people knew Trump was an idiot when they elected him. That's WHY they elected him. They prefer to have an idiot running the country.
Numbers again? Who buys this total BS. Not me‼️
STFU old madman 🤠 #YoureFired!
The head of the bureau of labor statistics is a tRump appointee so the numbers reported are extremely suspect.
U.S. employers added 162,000 jobs in August, significantly beating economists’ expectations.
Ain’t no one believing this
Remember when he fired the person who reported numbers he didn't like?
I’ll wait for the revised numbers
And in a few months it will be revised downward like they always are. Shame on Forbes for not doing their due diligence
One has suspicions about the validity of the report. It's unlikely that there were that many jobs. Overshooting economist expectations is suspicious. I call it a fake.
Trump is cookin' the books. Again.
I'll believe the numbers from this regime in a few months when revise that down significantly like they have every time they posted these kinds of numbers
Everyone that trust these numbers stand on your head!!! Yeah, that's what I thought!!!
The latest US jobs report came in significantly stronger than expected across both sides of the labor market: demand and supply. Specifically: Job Creation: Nonfarm payrolls surged from an upwardly revised 21,000 to ... 1 of 3
... while average hourly earnings rose 0.3% month-over-month, matching expectations. Together, these indicators point to a US labor market that remains robust with firm demand and is stabilization on the supply side. #economy #jobs #earnings #employment #unemployment 3 of 3
... 162,000, roughly three times the consensus forecast. Labor Supply: The labor force participation rate rose from 61.4% to 61.6%, beating expectations and marking its strongest level in nearly a year. Other Key Indicators: The unemployment rate held steady at 4.1%,... 2 of 3.
I’m sorry, but I can no longer believe numbers from this regime. If they are openly cooking the measles numbers, why aren’t they cooking these numbers?
I’m skeptical of this Trump Regime data..
Nonfarm going from a 21k revision base to 162k isn’t the same labor market showing up twice, it’s the base that got quietly rewritten first. Supply finally showing up rather than demand pulling harder🧐
Yeah let’s look at these jobs. Restaurants and Bars: Added 59,000 jobs.Local Government Education: Added 42,000 jobs.Manufacturing: Added 16,000 jobs.Information Sector: Lost 23,000 jobs Bars and Restaurants? 😂 Then on the taxpayers nickel 42K jobs. 😂Manufacturing only 16000, followed by a lost.
