Ah, farewell to Richard O'Sullivan, who didn't have the easiest of later years, and hard to emphasise just how famous he was in his heyday. Enjoyed revisiting Man About the House last year. #RIP

RIP Richard O'Sullivan. King of the sitcom throughout the 70s and 80s. Man About the House, Robin's Nest, Me and My Girl. And in 1988 on New Year's Day his perfect turn on the astonishing The Giftie which starts out like a standard suburban sitcom and becomes much, much darker very quickly.

Sad to hear Richard O'Sullivan has died. I was only little when Man About The House and Robin's Nest was on but he was a friendly face in the only three channels days. I also liked how he lived in the famous care home for retired actors. I got the impression he was having a good old age.

We grew up watching Richard O'Sullivan in lots of comedies. Thank you for making us laugh. He was Fabulous!! RIP Sir. Thank you for the magic.

Great to see so much love for Richard O'Sullivan. By the 80s he had become cosy and unfashionable, but he was wonderful. Charming, dry, a great physical comic actor, but he could also do great work in drama too. Man About the House has aged surprisingly well and a lot of that is down to him.

Very sad to hear of the passing of Richard O'Sullivan. You may know I have a bit of a obsession with 70s sitcoms (good & bad) and often maratheon a classic show I haven't seen before. Man About the House was one I wasn't expecting to even like, and I absolutely loved it! RIP

Said this on X. This is sad. Richard O'Sullivan was an ever present fixture on 70s & 80s TV. Grew up watching him. An actor that no matter what he did, charm & warmth came through. You can't teach that. Never got enough plaudits for his work but at least viewers loved him. Had hit after hit.
