Elon Musk’s super PAC, America PAC, disclosed $800,475 in midterm spending directed largely to seven Senate races and several competitive House districts, according to a new FEC filing. Nearly 90% of the total went to Senate contests, with the largest single outlay, more than $247,000, in Texas to support Republican Ken Paxton and oppose Democrat James Talarico. The PAC spent about $170,000 in Maine for Sen. Susan Collins and nearly $106,000 in Ohio to back Republican Jon Husted; additional Senate expenditures included $91,459 in New Hampshire, $54,600 in Iowa, $25,605 in Michigan and $17,235 in Alaska. The payments, made Aug. 18, 31 with two scheduled for Sept. 10, were categorized as printing expenses, indicating mail advertising. America PAC also directed nearly $90,000 across eight House contests to benefit Republicans including Derrick Van Orden, Mike Lawler, Jen Kiggans, Tom Kean Jr., Scott Perry, Rob Bresnahan, Ryan Mackenzie and Scott Singer. The disclosure follows reports that Musk recently met with House Speaker Mike Johnson and comes after Musk’s large 2024 political spending, when he funneled more than $239 million to America PAC and reportedly authorized up to $120 million to help elect Republicans this year. The filing provides the clearest public view yet of which battleground states Musk’s political operation is prioritizing in the midterms.
