Bird of the Day, theme 'Contrast'

Today's Bird of the Day theme is Contrast, defined as light birds against dark backgrounds or vice versa. Photographers and birders are posting high-contrast scenes, backlit silhouettes, and classic monochrome treatments, with emphasis on ripples, last light, and stark backgrounds. Look for a stork perched on its nest against a bright blue sky, a Snowy Owl posed near the paint on an Amish family home, and a Toucan reworked into a black-and-white image. Expect shorebirds and marsh subjects too, like greater yellowlegs in late light and grackles or swans standing out against contrasting water or walls.

AB have set the themes for this day #BirdOfTheDay on #Contrast and the alt on #Trushers #ECK #Birds #mobilephonephotography I don't have the second theme, but I have this beautiful stork against a blue sky on its nest. He/she returns every year back on this nest. More in the Alt.

Here is a beautiful stork sitting on its huge nest. The nestpool is man made. In nature parc Lelystad, they have had a breeding program for storks. Because they where almost completely declined here. Many from those storks have stay in the parc. But the others fly to South Africa for winter. And early spring they come back. This stork returns every year back to build it nest higher and higher. The couple have raised 3 chick's this year.

For the #BirdOfTheDay theme of #Contrast I managed to find both a dark bird against a light background and a light bird against a dark background in the same photo! Poking around in my archives is fun (Cormorant and Snowy Egret) #birds 🌿
