President Donald Trump said on Truth Social that NBC’s Meet the Press host Kristen Welker will be “reported to the FCC for rebuke or punishment” after she said his endorsement record showed “mixed results.” Trump called Welker the “Unpopular ‘Hostess’” and labeled the program “Meet the Fake Press,” argued his endorsements have a 99 to 100 percent success rate, and said her characterization was a “purposeful inaccuracy.” RawStory notes Trump’s claimed success rate contrasts with several recent losses: four Trump-backed gubernatorial hopefuls failed to win nominations and two Trump-backed House candidates lost primaries in July. Trump and Welker previously clashed in June when Welker pressed him about his false claims of 2020 election fraud and he left the interview after calling NBC a “one-sided, crooked network.” Trump framed the reporting to the FCC as a remedy for what he called harassment and libel by the news media.
