Filip Hrgovic stopped Moses Itauma when Itauma's corner threw in the towel in the ninth round to claim the vacant IBF heavyweight title at the O2 Arena in London on August 29, 2026. Itauma, 21 and unbeaten at 14-0, started strongly and won most early rounds with fast, accurate punches, including a superb uppercut at the bell in round five. Hrgovic, 20-1 with his only professional defeat to Daniel Dubois in 2024, absorbed heavy shots in the opening rounds, scored a knockdown in round two, and began turning the fight from round six as Itauma tired. World Boxing News recorded Itauma staggering and spent late in round eight and being out of it by round nine, prompting the stoppage. Hrgovic becomes the new IBF world heavyweight champion after surviving an early storm and forcing the late corner retirement.
