At Wrigley Field on Saturday, Cincinnati rookie Sal Stewart hit a two-run home run off Kevin Gausman in the top of the third inning for his 30th of the season, a shot to left-center that cut Chicago's four-run lead. Stewart, 22, also reached 104 RBIs, making him the only Reds rookie ever to record a 30-homer, 100-RBI season and the second rookie in franchise history with 30 homers after Hall of Famer Frank Robinson in 1956. Stewart surpassed Jim Greengrass' 100 RBI rookie mark from 1953 to set the club rookie RBI record. He is one of 14 major-league rookies all time to post 30 homers and 100 RBIs in a season; each of the last nine to do it since the Rookie of the Year Award began in 1947 have won Rookie of the Year. If Stewart finishes the season leading the majors in RBIs, he would join Ted Williams (1939) and Walt Dropo (1950) as the only rookies to lead the league in that category.
