Victor Muñoz scored a thunderous equaliser in the 82nd minute to rescue a 2-2 draw for Liverpool against Nottingham Forest at Anfield. Nottingham Forest opened the scoring on 24 minutes when Ndoye finished from a pass involving Morgan Gibbs-White after Igor Jesus held up play from a Matz Sels clearance. Liverpool thought Florian Wirtz had levelled but VAR disallowed the goal because Jeremie Frimpong was offside in the build-up. Cody Gakpo later delivered a low cross that Alexander Isak tapped in to make it 1-1 before substitutes swung the game, with Liam Delap’s quick throw-in leading to a penalty that Gibbs-White converted after Alisson felled Neco Williams. Muñoz, signed from Osasuna for 34 million pounds this summer, produced a brilliant spin and powerful finish after receiving Wirtz’s pass, marking a second game in which his late intervention has rescued a point. The result leaves Andoni Iraola’s Liverpool again coming from behind but dropping points at home as the new signings begin to make early impacts.
