President Donald Trump confirmed he will mark the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks at the Pentagon, saying “Because I’m going to the Pentagon.” The White House said Vice President JD Vance will attend the New York observance and other administration officials will go to the ceremony in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The article notes the attacks by al-Qaida militants 25 years ago killed nearly 3,000 people across the three sites. Trump posted on social media calling 9/11 “a day to remember the victims, and their beautiful family members.” The AP adds that Trump commemorated last year at the Pentagon and that he last attended the Ground Zero ceremony in 2024. Vance had planned to be in New York for the anniversary in 2024 but instead flew to Salt Lake City to be with the family of Charlie Kirk after Kirk was assassinated.
