Elden Ring Tarnished Edition releases on Nintendo Switch 2 today
It's weird to be a big fan of Dark Souls 1+2 and Elden Ring and also not have much knowledge of newer soulslikes, because I'm seeing people say that Mortal Shell 2 needs balance patches and I'm like soulslikes have balance?? When did that happen??
I saw someone be like "it's no fun being 1-2 shotted by basic enemies" and I feel like my entire world has been shaken. Next you'll be telling me the hitboxes are supposed to work!
It's odd yeah? What happened to community trauma bonding over getting our ass kicked by a tough boss.
But, every souls like needs Patches.
It's even odder to me about it being asked for in a souls game without online. Like sibling, you are the balance. Getting killed in one hit? Farm up your health.
The problem is the word "soulslike". The genre became popular, which drew people to it because it's popular, but when they realized people were serious when they said the games were hard, they felt excluded when they couldn't enjoy them. So they complained. Popularity ruins genres.
But those games got patched too. Everyone made tons of posts about beating Radahn before the nerf.
I am very tempted to buy Elden Ring on the Switch 2 as I never have played it before. Though I have never played a Souls game before either.
I would say elden ring is the best and most accessible option to get into the genre! Go for it!
souls games are character building. you have to learn to enjoy failure, and be willing to struggle. elden ring is not a bad place to start.
If you've never played a souls-like game before, the only caution I would prove you is that it may not be the best option if you take frustration really harshly, or get upset very easily - but it can be an incredibly fun and satisfying experience!
It’s an amazing game BUT extremely difficult. It took me a year to beat it properly. If you do get it choose your build carefully and be prepared to die A LOT
It's probably the best entry to souls games, so much to discover, so many options for builds
Elden Ring took over my life, and if you liked Bloodborne, you will love it. The environment alone took my breath away on several occasions, and one of two games I bout twice so i could have it on PS5 and Steam Deck
