Forever chemicals surge during Thames Water drought pilot
Toxic “forever chemical” rose to 13 times the legal limit during Thames Water pilots to pump treated sewage into the River Thames. 75m litres of river water a day removed, replaced with treated sewage during drought. Health hazards increase. TW loses 571m litres a day to leaks.
While profits continue this will never stop.
And Andy Burnham has ditched plans to renationalise it! Seems to be a recurring theme, Labour leader hopefuls promise social and progressive change, policies and reforms. But the moment they are elected into power they U-turn on those policies.
On Thames Water, Zack Polanski is asking what we're all thinking; are conflicts of interest the reason for Andy Burnham's betrayal?
That's odd, because yesterday you published an article by David Miller, who works for Iranian state media, arguing that @zackpolanski.bsky.social was part of a Jewish Zionist conspiracy to take over the Green Party. Maybe make your mind up on that first because your editorial is very confusing.
The juvenile student politics arent working. Greens on 8% in the polls, and in 3 years the General Election will be a 3 way race for power (that thing the Greens arent interested in), Reform, Tories & Labour! When do the Greens grow up, and make a bid to get elected?
I would say, it's entirely possible but more likely it's simply a matter of Burnham's ideological convictions on economics and "good governance". Which, from me, is a polite way to say Burnham is precisely as useless as every PM before him in the past couple of decades and will continue to be so.
Of course it is! #Burnham is clearly as corrupt as the rest of #Labour.
On this #PoisonedPlanet we need water companies acting for the public good, not private profit. The case for bringing them back into public control has never been stronger. The #Privatisation disaster has to end #PFAS #PublicHealth
Not just publuc control. That is Poser Burnham's terminology. Public ownership please.
We must nationalise now! We must stop them paying extortionate bonuses from taxpayers' pockets, whilst poisoning our environment. Instead invest in infrastructure, repairing leaks and reducing bills. Why does the government find that so difficult?
But @labouruk.bsky.social aren’t listening 👂 🤬 @zackpolanski.bsky.social @mrjamesob.bsky.social @paulbernal.bsky.social
Andy Burnham in his Makerfield by-election "an overwhelming case for public ownership of Thames Water." Now... nothing.
Promise everything, deliver nothing is the age old trick of most politicians, so this comes as no great surprise
How do you know when a politician is lying? Their lips are moving.
Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose
Just another neoliberal wanker like weathervane Keith but with more charisma This version of the labour party are not what the UK needs any more than we need the Nasties and Fascist Ltd
