Angel Reese breaks WNBA single-game and single-season rebounding records

Angel Reese grabbed 26 rebounds Monday night, a WNBA single-game record, in the Atlanta Dream’s 78-71 win over the Los Angeles Sparks at Crypto.com Arena. Reese’s 26 boards surpassed Chamique Holdsclaw’s 2003 single-game mark of 24, and her season total reached 458, topping A’ja Wilson’s single-season mark of 451 set in 2024. Reese collected 18 defensive rebounds and eight offensive rebounds, and she finished the game with 11 points and three steals. Dream coach Karl Smesko credited Reese’s steady improvement and said she is “really hitting her stride.” Reese has led the WNBA in rebounds per game each of her three seasons and previously posted the three highest rebounding averages in league history. The performance completed a perfect road trip for Atlanta, helped clinch the Dream’s fourth consecutive playoff berth and comes before Reese’s first senior national team appearance at the FIBA World Cup in September.
