Ukraine marks 35th Independence Day as allies pledge continued support

Ukraine marked the 35th anniversary of its independence on August 24 with allied pledges of continued support and mobilization of civic networks. Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda congratulated President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, vowed Lithuania would never recognize occupation or annexation of Ukrainian territories and pledged continued military, humanitarian and financial assistance while saying Lithuania supports Ukraine joining the European Union by 2030. Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius sent a message to Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi saying Lithuania will provide political, military, economic and humanitarian support and help contribute to Ukraine’s reconstruction and recovery. On the eve of Independence Day, the second global online meeting of Ukrainian youth organizations from around the world took place, chaired by Kyrylo Budanov. The day recalled Ukraine’s August 24, 1991 declaration of independence, Russia’s 2014 annexation of Crimea and Russia’s full-scale invasion launched in February 2022. Lithuania’s public commitment to sustained support and an EU accession timeline reinforces concrete diplomatic and material backing Kyiv can cite in upcoming reconstruction and membership negotiations.

Relieved that Macron and Burnham are pushing down this road lately. The broader MBDA partnership is clearly now opening up a lot for Ukraine... I've no doubt they'll be able to take the Storm Shadow / SCALP and Aster tech and do great things with it all.
