CBC rebroadcasts Tragically Hip's final Kingston concert for 10th anniversary

CBC is replaying the last Tragically Hip concert tonight, in a 10th anniversary celebration that was scheduled months ago. It couldn't come at a better time.

On paper, the Tragically Hip should not work. You have what is essentially bar band backing up a poet madman with a literature education and a theatre obsession. It sounds like it would come off as the Doors or something. And yet it’s amazing.

Watching the Tragically Hip documentary on Gem. Can’t believe it’s been 10 yrs. I remember the final concert was broadcast the night of my friend’s wake (she died of the same cancer Gord did). We were in a separate room at the bar and they brought in a TV for us and put the concert on.
