Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 lands, MGS4 praised in reviews
I used Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 as an excuse to reevaluate Metal Gear Solid 4, a game that increasingly feels like it’s from another world. It’s hard to imagine a big budget game that is this direct about real world issues ever existing again. www.polygon.com/metal-gear-s...
One of the most devastating but accurate sentences I’ve read. Sensational analysis all around!
Great review Gio!! Please indulge my nerdiness - how do they change this line? Does he not mention the PS3? youtu.be/A1qw4P3NsPs?...
"For the past 18 years, it seems the United States has done everything in its power to build the world Solid Snake was so determined to destroy" is a banger line great feature overall!
Hey the response to this one means a lot, a lot. Thanks for reading.
Me when I first played MGS4 vs Now
The shots of frying eggs hit even harder
There was a period where big budget video games had ambition and things to say. Hard to say exactly when it stopped. Maybe around 2016. It's impossible to imagine something like MGS4 (a game I don't even like all that much) or Spec Ops: The Line being made today. No risk. Nothing that could offend.
The man Gio just gets it. Can’t wait to dive into MGS4 again.
theres one thing that irks me about Kojima and that's that while takes like these are correct, he has always had a message taking aim at some persistent cultural issue of the time, it is equally something you as a player have to trim off a *lot* of excess nonsense in order to unbury those topics
I kid you not the further we go forward in time the more and more accurately Hideo Kojima was able to portray the future. That man literally was a prophet because I wake up every day and read the news to me saying "It's just like one of my Japanese video games!"
"At its top levels, the industry is only becoming more hostile to those who dare to work through real-world issues like this through their games. Can we really expect an Xbox-published game to say much about the arms business when Microsoft, its parent company, is entangled with the Gaza War?"
You're going to read a lot of Metal Gear Solid 4-centered pieces today with the embargo for Vol. 2 of the collection over, but take a moment to consider how much it rips that the extremely ambitious Ghost Babel is also no longer tied to a single, dead platform.
Such a great game! My friend got a copy for his GBC just before a school trip to France, and we played it together on the overnight coach. Neither of us could believe how authentically Metal Gear it was. One of the greatest handheld games pre-GBA, I think.
Hell yes, I'll probably sound like the weirdo for saying this but this actually might be my favorite Metal Gear Solid game next to Snake Eater
have always read this as Metal Gear: Ghost Babe I. Still waiting for the sequel
The best Metal Gear news in a decade
Man, Ghost Babel is one of my favorite Metal Gear games 🤩. I remember renting the cartridge from Blockbuster and then returning it late cuz I was so engrossed in it 😅. I even wrote a review about it last month
Dare i say the best game boy color game.
Wait fuck ghost babel rocks
Slightly off-topic: I love when games are named with the initials of the system they're on. Though I don't remember any that aren't for Nintendo systems
ok isso foi muito foda finalmente o MSG:Ghost Babel vai ser jogável oficialmente sem ser pelo GameBoy Color
A Hideo Kojima Production developed by TOSE Software of Densetsu no Stafy fame!
Ghost Babel fuckin rules, excited for more people to Ghost Babel
I’m gonna tell my daughter this was the gameboy color version of perfect dark
I loovvved this game as a kid. It captured so much about the PSX game in a form factor that meant I could play it whereever I wanted. A gem of my collection tbh.
