Charles Melton in talks to play Kakashi in Destin Daniel Cretton's Naruto movie

The Hollywood Reporter says Charles Melton is in final negotiations to play Kakashi Hatake in Destin Daniel Cretton’s live-action Naruto film, while Knight Edge Media reports that Melton has already boarded the project. Knight Edge Media adds that Melton recently had an offer for Naruto and is simultaneously negotiating with Marvel Studios to appear as Beast in an X-Men project, and that both could be scheduled to accommodate his availability. Knight Edge Media identifies Kakashi as Team 7’s leader and says production is slated to begin in the United Kingdom early February next year. The Hollywood Reporter story notes Melton recently earned attention for his performance in the Netflix anthology Beef. Naruto currently has no set release date; the next concrete milestones are either an official casting confirmation or the February production start.
