Disney+ posts official watchlist ahead of Avengers: Doomsday

moviesAug 18, 202632709

Disney+ published an official 15-title watchlist of films and shows to view before Avengers: Doomsday, which opens December 18. Marvel confirmed returning characters such as Captain America played by Chris Evans, Doctor Strange played by Benedict Cumberbatch, Professor X played by Patrick Stewart, and Magneto played by Ian McKellen; Robert Downey Jr. is listed as Doctor Doom. The Russos told reporters at San Diego Comic-Con that Doomsday would reset the MCU to "phase zero," but Marvel’s watchlist and the cast confirmations show the film still ties into prior entries. The list includes projects tied to Loki, Shang-Chi, and The Fantastic Four, yet it omits several notable entries including the Iron Man films and X-Men: Days of Future Past, the latter pointed out as a natural fit for Doomsday’s time-travel and alternate-universe elements. Disney+ and Marvel presented the watchlist as guidance for fans who want background before the December release.

While people have been bitching at me for years about how there's "no setup" but simultaneously "too much homework" for Doomsday and hand wringing about superhero fatigue, the MCU post-Endgame, and a bunch of other shit. Mark my words: Doomsday will make over 2 billion dollars.

A few deep cuts like the X-men movies with Hugh Jackman

no homework for movies, this is my belief

Your good friend, Chris Normal15

WHY THE FUCK DO MOVIES HAVE HOMEWORK NOW ILL FUCKIN GO YOU MATE

Cheryl Morgan9

I have, of course, seen all of them

Christina Holland9

I think it would be more fun if they made a list for people who might be unfamiliar with the concept of movies to get them caught up on the language of cinema like starting with George Melies' A Trip to the Moon and The Jazz Singer and like Citizen Kane and Rashomon and all that

Lou Morgan7

This is what’s been putting me off Marvel for years now. I don’t want to have to do homework to go and see a film. Absolutely, put Easter eggs in there for people who are super-keen and watch everything: that’s lovely. But making the plot dependent on me having seen it all? Absolutely not.

The thing is, like... it won't be worth it. They can't even be assed finishing scripts before they start filming, how much intricate storytelling could you expect

IGN does not know what the word Deep Cuts means just like they don't know how to write a fucking review.

Everybody else is like, "Why do movies have homework?" and I'm over here like, "Who forgot to put the shading just around the number for Loki's line?"

Anguirus4

The only thing I really *mind* about this (which is clearly just for fun and to make angry nerds click things and make buzz) is “Loki.” Two seasons of TV, wow.
