Greenville County officials performed an autopsy Monday after actress Hayden Panettiere, 36, was found unresponsive at a residence in Greenville, South Carolina, following a 911 call reporting cardiac arrest. Emergency personnel found Panettiere in cardiac arrest and pronounced her dead about a half hour after the call, the coroner’s office said. The autopsy revealed no signs of trauma that would have contributed to her death, but the coroner said the official cause and manner remain pending additional testing. Panettiere, born August 21, 1989, rose to fame as a child actor and was known for roles in the TV series Heroes and Nashville; she had publicly written about struggles with addiction and mental health in a recently released memoir. Her father, Skip Panettiere, said in a statement that Hayden was "an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy" to those who knew her. SAG-AFTRA, which noted she had been a member since 1994, mourned her sudden passing and extended condolences to her daughter, family, friends, and fans. Authorities said the 911 call came from an acquaintance and that Panettiere had been temporarily staying at the apartment complex where she was found.
