Amy Hunt completes 100m/200m sprint double at European Championships

Amy Hunt won the women's 200m in Birmingham to complete a 100m/200m sprint double at the European Athletics Championships. Hunt had already been crowned European 100m champion and was quickest in the 200m semi-finals with a time of 22.37 seconds. Ireland's Rhasidat Adeleke finished second, having won her semi-final in 22.43, and Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith took bronze. Hunt ran the final from lane eight with team-mate Success Eduan also having reached the final as a non-automatic qualifier. Great Britain entered the race with the three quickest Europeans of the year and were chasing only their third-ever European podium sweep. Asher-Smith is a two-time 200m European champion and holds eight European medals, behind only Poland’s Irena Szewinska on the all-time list mentioned in coverage.
