The End of Oak Street opens, early reviews praise dinosaur thrills

Saw THE END OF OAK STREET, which I thought was a perfectly thrilling time at the movies. Lots of gnarly dinosaurs, a couple shocking and/or delightful moments and big swings, and believable family drama. Good to take an older kid to see, if you have one. (A very very good PG-13 one-off F-word too.)

I saw “The End of Oak Street” today. It was really fun to watch. There are a few big plot holes at the end if that drives people crazy. But I really liked the movie. I don’t know why WB buried it in the middle of August. It would’ve kicked ass as a late April/early May release.

I will crib slightly from my review and say that if you think I mean that The End of Oak Street is full of wide-eyed wonder you are forgetting that Spielberg at his best can be a sadistic son of a bitch

The End of Oak Street is probably one of my fav films in a year of a great films. A solid dinosaurfilm, a great homage to cinema, and honestly my fav Anne Hathaway performance of the year

really liked the end of oak street. feels like it’s addressing the problem of too much Lore in movies. you’re a movie director, you can just summon dinosaurs, you don’t have to explain anything to anyone

I really did not like THE END OF OAK STREET

THE END OF OAK STREET was a fun b-movie. Anne Hathaway delivers a great performance in what could’ve been a thankless part. Nothing groundbreaking but a good thrill and one scene I totally wasn’t expecting.

THE END OF OAK STREET: dinosaur fun, just don't go expecting IT FOLLOWS or UNDER THE SILVER LAKE, albeit some DRM signature framing/camera moves. Split diopters a go-go. Some dinosaur behaviour you might not have seen before. Ticks all the popcorn blockbuster boxes you didn't realise you missed.

THE END OF OAK STREET opening tomorrow means I have to retire my bit referring to THE ODYSSEY as “the new Anne Hathaway movie.”

If I tell my wife I’m taking the kids to the Dino Movie this weekend and she assumes it’s Paw Patrol but I actually take them to The End of Oak Street, who is at blame here?

THE END OF OAK STREET. Genuinely a good time! If we must keep endlessly reheating and repackaging ‘80s Amblin, it’s refreshing to have one of these that’s a little more like POLTERGEIST and not just another clumsy mashup of E.T. and fucking GOONIES.

And no disrespect to those hard working puppers saving Dino Island, but this is the dinosaur movie of the weekend. And I'll say it: Best dinosaur movie since maybe Jurassic Park. #SaidWhatISaid I had a ball with THE END OF OAK STREET. See this with an audience. @seattlecritics.bsky.social
