Image Comics announces new Warren Ellis graphic novella
Warren Ellis is garbage, and I think Image made a shitty decision to haul him back out into the sunlight to stink up the place again. Once again comics proves it can't just fucking level up.
If he'd gone under a bus just after Transmet I would have a much higher opinion of him. (Also who at Image thought this was a good idea?)
So many grooming victims that they made a DATABASE of his crimes And he's just merrily blogging and pooting out newsletters like nothing's amiss somanyofus.com/testimonials...
Great, so his very documented pathway of grooming young women in his fanbase can go on unabated. A plus from the comics industry, every[white cis male]one gets an opportunity!
They deserve each other. Comics won't break your heart, but if you're not careful, the small-hearted, gelatine-spined men in comics will do their best to try.
I hate that his name is on my books. And that it probably helped them get noticed.
A big question is whether other creators are going to speak out this time, especially those who have titles published by Image.
THIS. If you think sexual offenders are radioactive isotopes that have a half-life beyond which their toxicity has naturally dissipated, you're just not taking sexual offending seriously. It really isn't a lot more complicated than that.
Comics media should be directly asking image, "you said that you would not work with Ellis until the victims were satisfied. He walked away from the mediation process. Why then are you working with Ellis?" And refusing to cover the book unless/ until they get an answer.
"Previously, Image stated [quote Image directly]. What changed your minds?" Just ask this, directly.
Yep, I had a TransMet tattoo because that was an amazing book. Yep, I had it covered up, because fuck that guy! somanyofus.com
He walked away!? Shit. I held out hope that he was sincere about making amends and coming back from that whole thing. Very sad.
For folks saying "well why not just ask Image why Warren Ellis is back," I did, when they reprinted Fell. I got "no comment." I've reached out this time, too, so TBD. But the fact of the matter is comics publishers invariably circle the wagons or shut down entirely around these sorts of things.
@imagecomics.com can y'all reconsider the Ellis situation? Or answer what amends he has made? I've been collecting Spawn since issue 1 and the current runs of Witchblade, Darkness, She-Spawn and some others. Singles and trades. I don't fw sex pest supporters though. I got a huge issue with this
wow a whole day of "throw the whole man out" in various aspects of media
“Comics are not a boys club club anymore” Image just announced a new Warren Ellis book so—
This doesn’t look good for their image.
This is the company that let Liefeld come back, so I'm not surprised.
That Jason Latour book was the dry run for this announcement
I'm going to fkn kill this guy. He needs to admit that he can't ducking write all he can do is steal from women. And the industry that did not force him to apologize, owes me personally
That's the first I've heard of it, and my eyebrows went through the roof.
A casual reminder, in case you've forgotten. somanyofus.com
And it's kind of a lame club, too.
I was watching a video about Frank Miller's racism yesterday. Nadia couldn't believe the shit he got away with in 2011—and then her jaw dropped when I told her he is still active in comics today.
More like “Bad Image” ammiright?
Crazy that Image Comics has opened the door back up to Ellis AND Latour while women in this industry just continue to be stepped on constantly. It also signals loud and clear to other creeps to keep doing what they're doing. You just have to "ride out" the bad press. Get fucking real.
Not to mention IDW, Dynamite, and Marvel giving Declan Shalvey work after it came out he's donated hundreds of dollars to an awful UK transphobe. He just didn't respond and went quiet for a few months and then everyone gave him work.
The guy that got booted from Rat Queens is back too I noticed.
Y'know I was about to say, "I'm surprised Tatsuya Matsuki hasn't made a comeback yet." Well apparently he's been working under a penname for over a year. Sounds about right.
What changed? Image Comics is working with Warren Ellis again after publicly cutting ties in 2021 due to sexual misconduct allegations. Details: thepopverse.com/comics-warre...
What changed? The comics industry (like so many others) lacks accountability. This, unfortunately, is back to business as usual… 🙄
I'm assuming they just assumed that everybody had forgotten Ellis is a horrible person who has harmed countless women
Quando relançaram Desolation Jones tava na cara que era um evento teste de descancelamento.
So, nothing, got it. Sure would be cool if "cancel culture" was really a thing TBH.
Fuck Warren Ellis and all those that continue to enable his abuses, and that includes Image. He’s been nothing but contrite and unapologetic since all the news came to light.
Is Eric Stephenson still the one approving all the submissions? That would tell us something about him and the board apparently at Image.
This is sad. I thought Image said they wouldn't work with him? So now they are a part of his "Image Control"?
wait, I think you might have meant he’s been not at all contrite?
Image Comics: "Quick, they're all distracted by Marvel/Star Wars, send the PR about the new Warren Ellis book"
